Bacteriostatic water 3ml vials contain sterile water with 0.9% (9 mg/ml) benzyl alcohol as a preservative. The preservative slows bacterial growth, so the vial can be accessed more than once. This size suits small laboratory volumes where a larger vial would go to waste.
